Introducing the new 2017 Bridgestone Tour-B JGR Series Woods & Irons – Bridgestone is flying under the radar with many new Japan releases like the CBP & X-HI series irons along with their latest JGR line.  The general theme I get from looking over the tech and specs of this new series is that it caters to the decent amateur player almost a more forgiving version of their original Tour B models.  The line up consists of a new driver, fairway wood, hybrid and two new forged irons.  I am also thankful these have fixed hosel’s.  Bridgestone offers optional wrench and weights for those who want to tinker with bias and balance.  Lots more on these new BS clubs!  Follow the jump…

The New PRGR EGG Series Woods and Irons!

20747014_10209672282220913_716167700_o

Introducing the new PRGR EGG Series!  New Driver, fairway woods, utilities, irons, and even golf balls are scheduled to release mid September.  I have had demos for weeks now and have hit them we will be posting individual club reviews this and next week.  Needless to say I was very impressed and know these will fit a wide segment of amateur players who prioritize distance, forgiveness and technology over all else.

PRGR has been doing the EGG series for many years known as super long,  higher launching and forgiving golf clubs.  PRGR as a brand really pushes the envelope when it comes to design beating to a different drum compared to other golf companies,  they measure information differently and use unexpected solutions to solve problems for the player.  From measuring grip speed over club head speed to using open faces on most of their clubs (measured differently) PRGR also seems to patent a lot of their technology and sometimes feature multiple patents in a single product.  The parent co. of PRGR also known as Pro Gear in Japan is the Yokohama Rubber Co.  They make tires,  hoses,  industrial materials for all types of craft.   Follow the Jump to get a brief run down of of the new Egg 2017!

The Crazy Full Titan Fairway

Crazy Full Titan FW2

The new Crazy Ti-FW is a players fairway wood made of titanium with a railed sole.  This is one of TSG’s best rated all around fairway wood heads in the proshop for 2016.  Usually you see fairway woods made of stainless steel but in Japan there are actually many boutique brands who specialize in woods.  Crazy is one of them and I can speak first hand to this ones performance as I’ve had it in the bag many of rounds in recent.  Follow the Jump for more on this one…

The New Ryoma F Fairway Wood!

DSC01179-Edit

The New 2017 Ryoma Fairway Woods -Do not compare these to your normal fairway woods; the usual FW is generally in stainless steel with a maraging face.  Not even close the new Ryoma F has an ultra thin body that contracts then expands during impact for more rebound,  the entire body is lighter and thinner allowing Ryoma to add a 125g weight internally. 65g in the rear they call power booster and 60g up front for power spring.

Combined with Ryoma’s exclusive face material across the board players are gaining a 4.47mph average increase in initial ball velocity which equals about 15 yards when compared to other traditionally designed fairway woods.  Follow the Jump for more photos…

A-GRIND DST Utility Wood

A-Grind Hybrid Utility DST6

Here you have it, Ako-san’s latest creation the DST utility wood also known as the Type-D.   For those of you who are not familiar with A-Grind it is the vision of Yusuke Ako,  Ako-san has been a part of the Japan Tour for over a decade and the designer at Royal Collection from 2004 till 2013 yes and he is the man who created the majority of the fairway woods including every Original Sonartec model that went to the states.  In other words this man can design fairways and hybrids like no other and the early adopters of A-Grind’s products couldn’t agree more.  The customer feedback is most often that A-Grinds products are shaped great,  feel awesome and easier to hit that most.   The Type-D (DST) series is the most forgiving fairway and utility wood in the brands entire line up.  Ready for more?  Follow the Jump!

Bridgestone Tour-B Series now in the TSG Pro Shop!

Screen Shot 2016-08-23 at 9.10.29 AM

The Bridgestone Tour-B Series Golf Clubs have officially been announced.  While TSG has been posting news of this including in hand photos (here) this new pro line goes straight for the athlete low handicap player.  The first thing to notice is it reminds us a lot of TourStage and for those of you who are new to the Japanese golf scene TourStage is what Bridgestone used to be in Japan and at one time the #1 equipment company in Japan.  Overall the TourStage product was better designed with more features than the Bridgestone gear they would later rebrand to.  Not anymore as these new Tour-B’s start off exactly where TourStage left off.  Impressive to say the least.

Another thing to take note of is that there are no adjustable hosels on these clubs,  If you look on Tour most of the players opt for a non adjustable version of a club and this is the case here.  Already all the younger athlete Bridgesteone staffers have switched over to the new line of equipment and as you can see below the bags look stealth too.  I have a quick break down of all the new clubs after the jump…
