Titleist VG3 Series Utility Woods – I would have to say these do a very good job at who they were designed to help, the mid to high handicap player. I’ve hit this for a few holes now and had range time with them and they are an absolute pleasure to hit IF you are looking for something long, straight, and forgiving yet it has a bit of size to it.
The most interesting attribute is it’s face shape, in fact the entire VG3 series shares very unique face shapes when looking head on. As you can see below very few if any woods share the same style. Ready for more? Follow the Jump Please…
It’s not compact nor is it oversized, it’s what I consider medium and in Japan senior and ladies professional players game these so that tells me it will fit a wide array of skill levels, the feel at impact is very pure a nice semi soft pop that is not hollow at all. It’s made using the standard 17-4 stainless body nothing to fancy there but what is cool is the incorporation of a new ERK95 L-Cup Face which is forged making this utility very JDM by default.
What I do wish all Titleist woods did not have is that sure fit adapter, please major OEM’s don’t try to sell us your limited selection of upgrade shafts or think that we adjust our clubs after every round. It may look nice on your list of features but when you sell us adjustable clubs then make the pro’s versions without it we read right through it. Trust us to know what we want, especially most players in Japan and the members here at TSG.
Anyway, distance is very good as is feel and forgiveness, what more can I say? I highly suggest these for a super wide array of player who desire an easy to hit mid/high trajectory easy to use hybrid. It’s trajectory is not very high it’s just high and with the right shaft it could be deadly even for a single digit or pro. Also TSG can assemble these with a non OEM adapter and fancy upgrade shaft if that is your fix. Available Here.
