Why do we always end up at Uogashi Standing Sushi Bar? Its delicious and reasonably priced, especially for the heart of Tokyo. Today I was in Tokyo for meetings and ended up there yet again to eat a quick but satisfying meal. Had my new Olympus OM-D E-M-5 with me and shot these using the trusty Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens – all shot at f2.0. Same sushi chefs are always there.
I always start with Toro Salmon Aburi with Ponzu. (Grilled fatty salmon)
Decided to get the Negi Toro in a tekkamaki roll. (Negi Toro is the fatty belly parts of a Tuna fish finely chopped with green onions. Temkamaki is wrapped in roasted seaweed)
Next I had the chef prepare Yaki Gesso with Mayonaisse. (Grilled squid – with a little blow torch: with Mayonaisse on top)
And then I went for some Bincho Maguro (White Tuna).
Followed by Kanpachi (Amberjack).
And finished it off with sweet Tamago (egg).
All in all a filling meal, with fresh Tsukiji fish in a convenient location at a very good price (1100 yen).
Hey T, wife and kids are going back to Japan for the summer. Where exactly is Uogashi? Which rail line and station? Thanks in advance for the info and next time instead of pics SEND SAMPLES!! You’re killing me with all of this.
love sushi, i can eat it everyday.
love the pics.
What about the radiation? Aren’t you worried about the radiation? I’m scared now, since they found enough of it over in California. I can’t imagine how much worse it must be over in Japan. I wouldn’t touch fish for a long while.
