Bridgestone Tour-B JGR 2017

Introducing the new 2017 Bridgestone Tour-B JGR Series Woods & Irons – Bridgestone is flying under the radar with many new Japan releases like the CBP & X-HI series irons along with their latest JGR line.  The general theme I get from looking over the tech and specs of this new series is that it caters to the decent amateur player almost a more forgiving version of their original Tour B models.  The line up consists of a new driver, fairway wood, hybrid and two new forged irons.  I am also thankful these have fixed hosel’s.  Bridgestone offers optional wrench and weights for those who want to tinker with bias and balance.  Lots more on these new BS clubs!  Follow the jump…

The New PRGR EGG Series Woods and Irons!

20747014_10209672282220913_716167700_o

Introducing the new PRGR EGG Series!  New Driver, fairway woods, utilities, irons, and even golf balls are scheduled to release mid September.  I have had demos for weeks now and have hit them we will be posting individual club reviews this and next week.  Needless to say I was very impressed and know these will fit a wide segment of amateur players who prioritize distance, forgiveness and technology over all else.

PRGR has been doing the EGG series for many years known as super long,  higher launching and forgiving golf clubs.  PRGR as a brand really pushes the envelope when it comes to design beating to a different drum compared to other golf companies,  they measure information differently and use unexpected solutions to solve problems for the player.  From measuring grip speed over club head speed to using open faces on most of their clubs (measured differently) PRGR also seems to patent a lot of their technology and sometimes feature multiple patents in a single product.  The parent co. of PRGR also known as Pro Gear in Japan is the Yokohama Rubber Co.  They make tires,  hoses,  industrial materials for all types of craft.   Follow the Jump to get a brief run down of of the new Egg 2017!

A-GRIND’s New Type-D Driver

DSC09375-Edit

A-Grinds longest and most forgiving driver has just been released.  It’s called the Type-D 460.  Stock out of the box it comes with open face angles.  1* on the 10.5 and 0.5* on the 9.5 loft.  This driver features a 6-4Ti forged face with a 6-4Ti cast body.   The concept is simple but proven,  variable wall thickness and a thinner crown to drop the center of gravity lower.  What is not proven ( in my opinion ) that is part of the design is that channel on the sole near the face,  many brands claim increased ball speeds from this and while it is true it’s minimal and so small that it’s no guarantee to improve distance.  Ready for more pics?  Follow the Jump…

Review: JBeam Galpha Driver

DSC09703-Recovered

Had a chance to shaft up this  Jbeam Galpha  driver with a TRPX  Xanadu to give it a whirl.    First off,   looking at the head at address,  shape wise very reminiscent of the legendary JBeam BM 435 ( aka Crazy CRZ 435 ) .   I have not checked recent stats,  but at one point the BM 435 was the most popular driver used among Japanese Mid Am players in competitions.    I also noticed that the paint had some colorful glitter mixed in.  Adds a touch of bling to the overall look.      At 445cc,  it definitely looks smaller than the said volume due to the deep profile.   Looking at the sole,  I do like the new design where it uses a mix of IP finish and mirror chrome accents.   Nicely done JBeam!    Face milling is present on this model as well.   It is said to provide slightly lowered spin.  Click Read more to continue…

Honma’s new low handicap driver – TW737 445!

DSC01396-Edit

The Tour World Honma 445 Driver – There are 4 drivers in the new 737 driver line up the 445, 450 455 and 460 from smallest to largest.  The most obvious differences are that each head has different cg locations,  individual head designs and face structures.  Today we are talking about their low handicap pro level driver the 445.

The new TW737 445 is designed to for reduced spin,  workability and to avoid the left side allowing the hard hitter to go after it.  The cg is high and the face not as deep as most tour clubs which allowed them to add extra forgiveness but expanding it’s outer diameter.  Lots of photos and information after the jump…

Grandista LS-001 Driver

Grandista LS-0011

Grandista LS-001- The brands second driver release.  For those who are not familiar with Grandista they produce really good drivers and fairway woods.  The owner,  founder and designer Kazutaka Yoshida is a former professional golfer.  At one point he was ranked 3rd – 5th on Japan’s long drive championship.

This man doesn’t fool around,  he sourced the best DAT55G from Japan by Daido steel co for the face of this new driver.  I’ve got more for you guys after the jump…

2016 PRGR RED Driver

_DSC5913-Edit

PRGR Red Driver New for 2016 – Pro Gear also known as PRGR has a lot to offer this year.  First they announced the RS series woods, irons, and wedges those were geared toward the better player and now the release of the new Red Series which caters to the slower or smoother swinger.  Today I highlight the driver.

There are two versions of the driver,  the Red which you see here in the photos and the Red-S 9.5.  The S version fills the segment between slower swinger and faster.  What makes this Red special is more than a few things and we will go into it after the jump…
