Three Luck’s new muscle back blade – The company three luck is known best for it’s Sky Dream Jump series of wedges. SDJ wedges have a small cult following on among TSG members known for their excellent spin, grinds, and feel.
These new Three Luck blades have a CNC milled face and back face to make for a visually stunning yet performance driven design. Made 100% in Japan forged, milled, and hand-ground. Follow the jump for more photos…
The milling is very tight on the face, this is similar to SDJ’s limited prototype 115 forged wedge. The face area has slightly less of a milled effect but lighter milling is evident.
Below the image shows everything a blade should feature. A small thin top-line, a gentle flowing neck transition that frames the ball well and minimal offset.
I tried to capture the CNC processing done on the back face, it stands out as a polished area on an otherwise brushed satin back face.
In the below photo it shows an obviously handmade shape, something mass production does not do very well, it’s curves have that human touch about them. There are those who are the most obsessive over golf equipment that seek particular attributes that only their favorite grinder can produce. These blades will go down as one of those sets that people will lust over long after they are no longer produced.
The sole of the three luck muscle back irons is hand-ground perfection, the curved and smooth leading edge with it’s narrow sole makes it flow effortlessly through a variety of turf conditions allowing it to cater to those who seek blades the most, the steep swinger.
The new Three Luck MB’s will be available in limited numbers in the TSG ProShop this week so stay on the lookout!
