It’s a new dawn, on a new day, In new year and the onward and upward roar of technology never rests. We see it in just about every industry and despite more challenging economic times products just seem to evolve becoming better and better. We get almost as many kind emails from GTI readers who appreciate Tario’s (gocchin) off topic perspectives of traditional Japanese life meshed together with technology, photography, food, and golf and the occasional Auto, Food, Aquatic, etc. that I serve up.
While there are many golf clubs I should be reviewing today I wanted to fill you guys in with a rewrite on future televisions that are coming “sometime” in 2011. I don’t know about you but I sure as hell get excited with drooling over the latest and greatest top companies have to offer.

92″ OLED & 155″ DLP Ready for the next generation in HD new’s? Mitsubishi (parent company of Diamana Shafts) has just unveiled its two new breakthrough TV’s for CES.
A new 92″ Mitsubishi HDTV will be released for Home Cinema as well “he 92-inch 3D Home Cinema TV is packed with a comprehensive list of features including: Fully integrated 3D TV with built-in emitter, StreamTV Internet Media, Multi-speaker Immersive Sound Technology (IST), Center Channel Mode w/Center Channel input, Rear Channel Pre-outputs, Sub-woofer Output, Bluetooth Streaming Audio, 4 HDMI input, ISFccc, USB Media player, Advanced Calibration Mode, Universal Remote Control, 120Hz Sub-Frame Rate, Jade User Interface and New Clear Contrast Screen.”
The behemoth AND super thin 155 inch OLED display is targeted toward the digital signage market and sold via Mitsubishi Japan’s business division yet features the clear contrast 1080P which would satisfy videophiles with deep pockets.
I’ve seen consumer model 130″ LCD’s in Akihabara a couple of years ago in the price range of $35,000. OLED runs so expensive I can’t guess what this thing would cost.
RED RAY 4k “The player will is currently available costing just over $1k but is pretty much useless unless you have our own 4096 x 2048 movies lying around as it is intended for use with its $25k Red One camera. Also, you’ll need a $50k TV to truly appreciate it.”
Offering 12 channel, 24-bit uncompressed digital audio and full connectivity via USB-2, Firewire 800 and e-SATA, REDRAY PRO™ represents THE 4K Delivery Solution for the coming age of 4K cinema.
Red is really the finest digital video camera & still company on the market. With the camera’s you have the ability to customize and swap parts out for a truly custom experience. Peter Jackson in 2010 purchased 30 of them to film his new movie the Hobbit.
Below we have the New Vizio 21:9 experience. It’s an ultra-widescreen TV with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1080 Cinema HD resolution for a wider, more natural and immersive field of view while also playing traditional 16:9 content as well. Available later this year in 50” and 58” class sizes, these Cinema HDTVs.
Philip’s showed off it’s 21:9 display a couple of years ago but it has not been released to the market. Vizio has announced release details for it’s version and while it may not be as “quality” as the Philips 21:9, its package is more robust at a much better price point.
The wider aspect ratio also allows the TVs to display a full 16:9 wide-screen image while simultaneously showing a screen-worth of Vizio’s Internet Apps.
The 50-inch model will use a full-array local dimming LED backlight and 240Hz refresh rate, while the larger 58-inch version will have an edge-lit backlight and 120Hz refresh rate.
LG is bringing what will be known as the largest LED backlit 3d LCD HTC to the market the LZ97000. bringing both 2D and 3D content and offering TruMotion 400Hz.
Combining the world’s largest FULL LED screen, the LZ9700’s 3D takes on added depth and draws viewers even further into its immersive viewing experience.
In addition, TruMotion 400Hz delivers a super-fast processing rate for exceptionally smooth 3D images.
This could be the year of Connected TV’s with companies like Microsoft getting into the game along with Apple TV, Boxee, Roku and Google TV.
More “connected” TV’s have sold than 3D TV’s since it’s introduction. The number one complaint about 3d is the expensive and bulky glasses.
Well there are several avenues being explored, one is called Passive 3d which allows you to use those disposable cinima style glasses or even ‘auto stereoscopic’ TVs that don’t require any glasses at all.

THe Philips 21:9 has been out at least a year in stores here in Sweden.
That said, I’m pretty damn satisfied with my 50″ Pioneer 9G Kuro Plasma and will be for the next couple of years. Still seems to be the standard as far as blacks and picture quality go. I’ll wait til 3D and OLED technology is more mature before I switch.
Its funny how fast your “new” tv is outdated by the time you have it hooked up at home. I want one of these new ones bad.
Some amazing boob tubes. I really want the “92 inch Mitsubishi and I’d be willing to trade my ’04 Mitsubishi Galant to get one. Any Takers?
