Sri-Sports held their official Srixon Z-TX exhibition the other day in Tokyo to launch the successor to last year’s best selling ZR-800 line. On display was the entire Z-TX lineup including the new driver, fairway wood, irons and hybrid. The new driver which is a very hot topic has incorportated the XXIO Super Tix 51AF rolled face which give Srixon its best feeling driver ever. The variable thickness face has been redesigned to feature ribbed areas in the back face and an even thinner wall at its thinnest point of 2.0mm. The sweetspot which has more up and down coverage compared to last years ZR-800 still features a 3.40mm thickness.
The 8AL-2v Titananium sole features 11g of weighting between the heel and toe to promote optimal launch and trajectory. The weighting also helps the Z-TX increase its MOI by 3% over the ZR-800 helping to reduce misses left and right on the face. A 6 Split Bulge and Roll design increase distance performance and stability by reducing distance loss on mis-hits creating more consistency. The straight angle/neutral face allows for more control and workability either with fades or draws. From the top view, the Z-TX still gives that traditional pear shaped look but is in fact 6% larger from above compared to last years model. This slightly extra size provides a sense of confidence at address.
