If you haven’t been following the amazing golf being played at the St. Jude Classic I have only two things to say: 1) It’s your loss and 2) Shame on you. Right now, as we speak, there is some amazing golf being played at the St. Jude Classic and some even more impessive stories behind the play. As you know, this is Phil Mickelson’s brave return to golf only 3 short weeks after the heartbreaking and unfortunate diagnosis of his wife, Amy, with breast cancer.
Phil Ready for Round 2
Currently on the course with an extremely impressive, and most likely emotional 2-under-par, Phil is back on the course and ready to ramp things up for Round 2. I can’t imagine what he’s going through playing right now, but I am sure the emotion of the gallery is nothing compared to his own internal emotions. Unfortunately for Phil, however, his emotional -2 is nowhere close to the play that Brian Gay has put up in Round 1, and again today in Round 2.
Brian Gay Shoots 64, 66
After kicking things off in Round 1 with a blistering 64, Brian Gay stepped onto the golf course on an absolute mission today, and followed up his first round 64, with a second round 66, securing himself into the lead with a two round total of -10. Wow. No matter how good he plays, however, I think all eyes will be on Phil Mickelson and also returning to the fray, John Daly.
Daly Evens it Up
Daly, who has been off the PGA Tour for quite some time, showed up yesterday and shot a disapointing 72, but today looked to rebound from that and brought him back to Even par after shooting a much more impressive, and much more welcome -2 today. Still, we’re all watching Phil and hoping he plays as well as we all want him to play. Can he build on his impressive first round -2? We’ll see, and we’ll be cheering the whole way.
