The word “Tour” in this case signifies that this is the RomaRo Alcobaca wedges most compact with less offset model and compared to other compact players wedges it’s still slightly oversized. I’ve always suggested the Alcobaca to players who request a higher MOI very forgiving wedge and I’d suggest disregarding the word tour and consider this much of the same a high spin forgiving wedge that is good really for all levels, for the high handicap who wants a wedge to grow into or the low handicap who doesn’t mind looking and hitting something a bit larger.
RomaRo threw the kitchen sink at this one with a ton of good attributes, I will explain this with more pics after the jump….
Let’s dig into this and start with the channel sole grind it’s useful but not a huge difference it’s supposed to provide less friction in the rough so it’s a net positive, next it’s the S-shaped arch that has a ton of heel and toe relief, yes you can open it up no problem but overall this wedge likes to fly straight and spin strong.
It’s Forged of S20C, it’s grooves are CNC milled , it has laser score lines in between it and the double arched sole it has allows for more bounce that plays effectively as less.
lets not forget this wedge is soft, S20C + Copper plated underlayer again RomaRo gave this wedge a lot of features and it’s not too much, I’ve hit it it’s high launching, very forgiving and super easy to hit with a ton of spin while still being conforming
In the pic below you can see this wedge has a touch of onset the 50/52 are nearly no offset while the 56/68 have a touch of onset which is when the leading edge runs past the hosel.
A variety of lofts available 50/9 – 52/9 – 56/12 – 58-11 standard shafts are NS950 or S200 and TSG also offers heads only. Click here for the official listing.
