Thanks to our friends over at GDO we’ve got an early preview of the new PRGR GN502 Tour 440 driver. Top PRGR Pros Azuma Yano and Hideto Tanihara had requested a lower launching and slightly smaller head than the 2009 GN502 Tour so the 440 was born. The 440 as you can guess is 440cc and features a higher back head. It has a slightly deeper head and the center of gravity is placed considerably more forward and higher in the head for a penetrating trajectory. Initial tests show distance on par with the previous hot face GN502 Tour but with a low trajectory equaling more roll and control. Spin is on the low side with this neutral faced driver which aids that extra run.
PRGR enlisted Mitsubishi Rayon to create a new stock shaft for the 440 that would be on par with higher end shafts. The new Tour Original Flex plays more stout that typical stock shafts as this driver is made for the faster and harder swinger wanting control. GDO showed the head with naturally straight shots to a soft fade. This driver is for the better golfer and not for anyone who battles the right side. Once we get a demo we’ll report back with our own results and impressions!
