We were lucky enough to get a chance to try the new Ping Anser Forged iron at the Japan Golf Fair yesterday. The Anser Forged is slated for an April release here in Japan and features a sharp toe and straighter toe matched with a premium forged 8620 Carbon Steel body (this is a correction as I mistakenly said S25C earlier, 8620 Carbon is used in Adams Idea Pro Forged irons for example) and Tungsten Sole.
Ping fans are surely excited about a forged offering and they have every right to be as we hit the forged Anser and it is soft and easy to hit. The sole of the cavity which is hollow allows the weight to be pushed low with the heavy tungsten sole making for an easy and forgiving launch. The Anser Forged back cavity features a thicker sweet spot area for a pure feel. Look for the Ping Anser Forged to be available soon for pre -order at TSG!

Wow !!! and thrice wow!!!
This seems to have come out of nowhere…… I’m shocked a PING forging (guess we can’t say ‘forgery’…LOL)
This is really exciting although I couldn’t live with that offset personally, but I’ve always been a fan of their individual approach to clubmaking and this looks a really welcome development..
We were excited to see a Ping forging as well and frankly I have to admit I was surprised that there was that much offset. With the amount of forgiveness in the irons design I’d have to say this is another Japan designed iron classified as a premium forged iron for the average golfer OR better.
I just can’t believe that PING has finally went forged. My biggest question is who’s actually doing the forging? Is this a PING in House job or is this a out sourced to say Endo or could they be Miura? LOL Anyway I would play these if they had zero offset on if they made a players version say onset version! Well I like the face looks nice with the high boxed toe. Good Job now all those Ping players can see what they were missing not playing a forged iron! JMO.

Great Clubs can’t believe PING made a Forged iron !! Really want to order a 5 Ping. Does anybody have any insight if these will come out in the US.
Thanks
Eero
Your Message The Michigan Ping rep says they will cost $1300 for 5 thru W (6 irons). He also said if you want a 3 or 4 iron, it will really be expensive!!!!
Your Message@Jim:
Hey Jim,
Thanks for your input, We should have them at a better price at TSG not to mention a whole lot earlier.
Good looking irons. The last time Ping made a forged club was 1961. Would love to play a round with them.
This is terrible, terrible news. My wife is going to kill me. My S57s will only be two years old. Oh well . . .
Why would Ping release these clubs in Japan first? Where is the company based, where is their largest market? Why bdo I have to wait? Why, Why, Why? Can’t you see I’m desperate.
I live in Thailand and just looked a new set of Anser irons in a local golf shop. $1,240 when converted into USD for the 6-iron set. That was his best pricing; his starting price was $1,615. I play to a 13.3 index and seem to be slowly coming down now, with better iron play and a vastly improved short game. I now use Ping G15 irons and wonder if I would benefit from these new Ansers. I don’t really care for the huge oversized irons in my G15 set and they always feel clunky. I’m torn between the 115s with graphite shafts or the Ansers with steel shafts. Can anyone render an informed opinion? Thanks.

bill go and visit your local ping guys let them tell you what is best for you dont second guess when spending this much cash. personal choice i15 best of luck with your game..
I paid $1250.00 for 4-pw. I’m a 5 hdcp. These clubs have amazing feel, are plenty forgiving and very workable. The project x shafts are a great consistent shaft they use. I played the Ping i3+ for 5 years. No comparison-The answers are the answer.
