Our thoughts and prayers go out to Phil Mickelson right now as word has come in that he’s going to be not only withdrawing from this weeks Byron Nelson Championship, but he’s going to be on leave from the PGA Tour indefinitely as his wife got some very unfortunate medical news.
Amy Mickelson To Undergo Surgery
According to reports, Mickelson’s wife Amy been diagnosed with breast cancer and is scheduled to have a gamut of more tests run as well as major surgery sometime inside the next two weeks. Mickelson is currently the number 2 golfer in the world and in addition to being scheduled to play in the Byron this week, he was also scheduled to defend his title at Colonial the following week. Now, it is unsure if he’ll be back in action by June 18th for the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black in New York.
Tiger Woods Released Statement
Whatever the case may be, the entire golf world is saddened by this news and ESPN.com has the official statement from Tiger Woods about it:
“Elin and I are deeply saddened to hear the news about Amy…Our thoughts and prayers are with her, Phil, the children and the entire Mickelson family.”
Ours too. Get well Amy, golf needs you just as much as it needs your husband.
