Looks like anyone that thought Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen or Bubba Watson would be holding the trophy at the end of the day probably lost some of their betting money. That’s right, taking home top honors last night at the Quail Hollow Championship tournament was not a big name, instead, it was Sean O’Hair that emerged victorious with a 1 shot lead. Nicely done Mr. O’Hair, welcome to the spotlight.
Impressive Field, Impressive Victory
The impressive thing about O’Hair’s victory, other than the simple fact that he won, was that he won with a field that was absolutely jam packed with the best talent in all of professional golf. Yes, even Tiger showed up to play. Everyone played well at this tournament and it looks like the ability to put together 4 consistent rounds won the tournament. O’Hair finished Quail Hollow at an impressive -11, a stroke ahead of Bubba Watson and Lucas Glover and two strokes ahead of Tiger Woods.
O’Hair Motivated By Bay Hill
This victory makes O’Hair only the 3rd player in his 20’s to have three PGA Tour victories, an honor he shares with Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott. When asked about his motivation to finish strong, here’s what O’Hair had to say:
“Losing (stunk) at Bay Hill,…Even though it’s tough to lose like that, to lose a five-shot lead against Tiger, you still learn from it. I talked to my coach. I talked to my caddie, Paul (Tesori). And we just all said all I have to do is keep putting myself in those situations, and at some point I’m going to learn how to win. It’s just nice to win as quickly as I did after Bay Hill.”
Well played Sean O’Hair. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of you at the top of the leaderboards.
