PRGR recently held a press event showing off all of their new 2010 models. The exhibition was held in Tokyo in a gigantic show room all decked out in PRGR decor. Our very own Gocchin covered the new GN502 Tour in depth today with stunning images from GDO online, I will be going over some of the other new products set to release early this year.

GN502 Tour Forged Irons: Famous Japanese golf pro Azuma Yano’s favorite set of irons the all new 502 Tour Forged was developed by taking into consideration many requests from PRGR professional staffers. Made of soft mild forged steel one of the main requests while producing this iron was a rewarding and very telling feel + sound at impact. Considered a modern players cavity back it also has a very thin topline, very little offset while the center of gravity is higher for a more penetrating ball flight.
TR500 Forged Irons: Another famous PRGR staffer named Hideto Tanihara is currently playing the TR500 iron and while this model is not as compact as the GN502 Tour Irons it still has a compact head shape with a smooth flow from the neck to its leading edge and minimal offset. These irons have already been released in Japan and are available in the TSG ProShop.
TR Wedge 2010: The all new TR wedge is soft forged of S20C and the design is geared toward the average to good level player yet not pro level golfer type. The theory was to produce a thin sole wedge that glides through all turf conditions with ease yet not large enough to get tangled or bounce too much. Most lofts are currently available with the 52 & 58* coming out Feb. 13 2010.
Silver – Blade II: This year PRGR is releasing seven new putter models named Silver Blade II. Backspin has been reduced by 5% and the finish has been improved making it easier on the eyes on sunny days. PRGR was also able to increase the moment of inertia versus the Silver – Blade I.
R55 Wedge: I consider this wedge to almost be a chipper, in Japan the previous R35 & R45 models were a massive hit and known as one of the hottest sellers of the entire season of any golf product. Chippers, I mean wedges like this really do help the average players score and the R55 is an improvement over the past model designed better for elevated greens and most importantly the bunker shot. No special skills required just grip down on its short shaft and give it an easy stroke for a safe and consistent result.
As I noted back in November when I introduced these products http://www.tourspecgolf.com/blog/2009/11/prgr-new-2010-products-announced/ the TR500 actually looks to have less offset than the new Tour Forged though it has 1* strronger lofts. It is a players cavity but with distance in mind as well. Hopefully we will get some demos in soon especially of the TR500 iron which as a very interesting cavity design.
I really couldn’t be happier with my bag right now and that’s without the AF302’s that will be here soon.
But… the irons are something I’d sure like to try when they come out. Not even sure which model if not both. PRGR has to be the most under rated company out there. I could easily see myself with an all PRGR bag, inc. the bag. :)
