We all love putters don’t we? It’s the one club we don’t mind hording and having a huge collection of. It’s the one club we don’t hesitate to spend big bucks on. I remember at one time when the putter craze bit me and I had maybe 20 putters in my collection. You know the feeling. You come home from work and just have to roll them all on the practice putting green you bought just for those putters.
I don’t have 20 putters in my collection anymore but I can still appreciate and drool over a nice putter. I really liked the Mizuno putters that were made by Bettinardi with the black carbon finish and Fit Face. I still own a BC3 and was disappointed when Mizuno and Bettinardi mutually parted ways. I did however get very excited when I saw the new MP Craft forged putters at the Japan Golf Fair this weekend.
Mizuno featured three models under their MP moniker or Mizuno Professional line. These new models are premium forged S25C models done by Mizuno themselves. The S101 is a blade type putter, the S102 an L type putter and the S103 a center shafted small mallet. All three putters look great and feature a CNC Milled face for producing feel and roll. Heads are heavy at 350g+ for 34″ or shorter models and they feel great in your hands. The higher swing weight is great for distance control. At impact the new MP Craft Putters produce that soft yet crisp feel for feedback that many better players want. Roll was instant with minimal skidding if any at all. I already have my eyes on the center shafted mallet above and cannot wait until they officially get released in the next couple of months!
Here are he pics I took from the show! Tourspecgolfer should have some video up as well soon.
