To say Miura Giken is on fire would be an understatement, with their new MG CB-1008 players CB and also the new PP-9005G “Genesis” Iron they have Miura Giken fans in a very happy place with 2 new models to choose from. This new Passing Point Iron is next generation Miura by utilizing a 2 piece structure.
Made using a forged S20C body with a 455 carpenter steel face these are unlike other Miura irons, they are thicker, they feature a deep cavity, and designed around forgiveness and distance. Follow the Jump for more photos and explanation…
These are not made in Miura Gikens Japan factory, they are made overseas BUT what is done in Japan is the finishing, the assembly of the individual head pieces and quality assurance and most brands would have these things done before delivery but when you see the fit & finish you can tell it’s at Miura’s standard.
Who are these for? someone who loves miura that wants more distance and forgivenes yet doesn’t mind a more chunky appearance.
I’ve hit these and they are impressive, very easy to hit, they feel pretty good too, not sure If I like the orange pieces on the head but in hand they look quality and add some color.
There was a short run produced of PP-9005 irons previous to this new G version, it had a different shape, it didn’t have the orange dots and it was also an outstanding performing iron.
455 carpenters steel is usually for fairway woods and utility woods and combine that with stronger lofts and these irons have more distance than any other Miura iron to date. The PW comes in at 44* to give you an idea where usually you see Miura irons in the 47* range.
Below a look at the topline, these don’t have much offset at all, top line is thick and blocky and looking down at these they inspire more confidence than what most Miura players expect from the brand.
The sole is wider than most MG irons as well yet fairly flat with a killed leading edge. The new Miura PP-9005 irons are available only #5-PW there are no #4 or #3 irons available, TSG has these heads only or we can do a full custom build including the best shafts and grips for you. I like the shape but cavity design of the previous PP9005 was much better. From a design standpoint it looks cheaper.
can these be bent 3 degrees flat?
