Honma’s W106 Wedge is a high MOI high spin wedge that is slightly oversized for more stability and forgiveness as a result. They use two types of finishes, one side to produce more spin called the “Spin Zone” the sole is a double finished “Slide Zone” that goes smoothly through the turf.
It features a larger sweet spot and increased moment of inertia to reduce distance loss on bad shots making it a very good options for the average player. We have a bunch more pics and some chit chat about the grind and what else this wedge features after the Jump…
As you can see it has somewhat of an advanced players grind with a nice sized trailing edge relief to open the face and some good heel and toe relief so it makes it through the turf with less hang ups or friction.
It’s small amount of offset and larger face also help the average player and the spin zone finish not only increases spin with friction but also has effectively no glare whatsoever.
There is a channel or cut away going through the center of the clubs back face this allows Honma to keep a lighter head weight and better yet reposition more weight to the sole. By removing this weight the surplus allowed Honma to increase the head size.
The appropriate off-set makes it easier to pick the ball off of more lies and hit a higher trajectory while the semi blade shape design gives the sense of the face being large enough to wrap around the ball for more confidence.
The Spin Zone lower portion of back face and entire top line & face is a high friction nickel finish, the entire face is CNC milled for the flattest face possible. The Slide Zone uses a tougher nickel chrome finish that is low friction the slips easily under the ball.
This wedge is cast of mild steel and it’s standard shaft is NS950 in Regular or Stiff Flex, Available in 50/53/56/58/60* lofts with relatively low bounce considering who it’s geared to. Now available in the TSG Pro Shop: Click Here
