Had a chance to give the new Honma BeZeal a good whack, borrowed it for some range time in 9.5* with the standard stiff flex shaft and was very surprised how this shaft fit me, I tend to use very low spin and low launching heads ya know the player type with a square face heavier head and forward center of gravity.
The new BeZeal 525 is actually a high launch head with medium spin or honma calls the proper spin rate for this head design and while this shaft was light where I usually play almost heavy everything about this club made it go high and straight. More of my review after the jump…
The BeZeal series fills the gap between the players segment and the game improvement side. The athlete player uses the Tour World TW727 series while the game improvement or senior segment plays the Beres S-05 and E-05 products but what about the golfers in between? This is where BeZeal comes in and this is the sweet spot in size, forgiveness and performance that most average players fit into.
Pro players also had a hand in the design they helped by working together with Sakata factory to create a really attractive head shape at address.
This BeZeal 525 Driver is designed to launch high with “optimal spin” and because it wasn’t labelled low spin I was thinking it wouldn’t work not to mention the standard shaft was a lot lighter than I usually play but after hitting it the result was really long high straight shots which left me perplexed. Honma did this one right there is no fancy face material or gimmick tech it’s just a well balanced easy to use driver.
Ok so feel, really good it was soft and not too loud sounding, trajectory I already mentioned was high, dispersion was striaght not what I consider tight but just a really nice strong launch forward look to the ball. My bad shot is a slice and really bad would be a pull the normal hacker tendency but this driver was easy to hit straight and bad shots were a strong fade which I could totally live with. Distance was well above average not sure if it’s the head or the shaft but it all seemed to work perfectly much to my surprise.
Behind the face inside the head itself there is a structured design where the thickest area is behind the sweet spot and using this in collaboration with what Honma calls the proper weight crown face deflection is higher than most drivers as well as the rebound velocity. The low and far back CG helps make it easy for mid cappers but I would go as far to say as low handicap and high handicap golfers could do pretty well with this BeZeal.
The weights are adjustable! sold separately but this is something we don’t see often with Honma this allows you to tinker with head & swing weight or change the bias of the head 2/3/4/5/6/7g weights are sold, it comes stock with a 2/7 configuration.
This is the newest tech vizard using something they call EPT it’s a low kick point design for high launch but a constant stiffness throughout the butt/mid/tip section, Honma also incorporated a material Zxion into the tip reduce energy loss and dampen vibration, let me say it one more time this club sounds and feels very nice at impact.
Thanks for reading and if interested we have it here available in the TSG ProShop “click here”
I see this Bzeal model is only available with the Vizard shafts. How does these shafts compare to the ARMRQ?
The pros did a good job. This driver has a nice shape at address.
Does Honma sell the weights and screws so I can adjust myself?
I was wondering the different of Bzeal, S series, E series and Tour World. I’m more of a TW guy but good to know.
The Be Zeal model looks great. Can we do custom length and lie angle order on these too?
Hi T, There are less custom options for the Bezeal line up. For the drivers, Honma only offers the Tour World Vizards shafts as a custom option.
