He is responsible for the designs of the original Royal Collection and Sonartec fairway woods which have a cult-like following with some.

Ako-san is known for producing beautiful shapes. The clubs appearance at address is very important to him. In the above photo, the matte crown paint and shape make for some gorgeous visual as you set up to the ball.
Opposite we have the matte crown up close, It absorbs the sun for no glare.
The new A-Grind BX-D is made using a Forged Titanium face produced with an additional CNC process. The driver’s body is made of 6-4Ti. There are 3 adjustable weights on the head with extra weights sold separately. The BX-D’s head comes in at 1-1.5* open face angle with a standard lie and head weight of 59* / 198g.
One of the best things about hitting forged club faces is their sound and feel and the BX-D does not disappoint. Its sound/feel at impact is a soft rewarding semi-hollow with just a touch of metallic crunch. Off the face the ball comes off with a mid trajectory and mid spin.
And while the head is only 435cc’s if you did not tell anyone they would figure it’s 460cc based on how forgiving it is. Ako-san has always had solid results producing A-Grind drivers that satisfy the pro and average player alike.
The face itself has some extra real estate toward the heel and toe while it still looks deep. A shallow yet deep faced driver. Not many 435cc heads are this forgiving and it would be impossible to make a 460cc sized head look as sexy as this one.
