UPDATE:
Unconfirmed sources are pointing to more differences between the SuperTri and original R9 460. Not only is the head bigger but the face is rumored to be made of SP-700 titanium and the fitting sleeve is supposed to be lighter and more secure. Prototype images are also appearing of a version with only 2 weights one of which is named the Taylormade R9 Super Deep “DF”.
The Taylormade R9 SuperTri Driver is scheduled to release Feb 19th 2010! It’s a 460cc head with 3 movable weights and an adjustable face and will be available in a TP version.
Just like the R7 SuperQuad it’s all black even the face but as far as it’s improvements over the previous R9 it’s got a slightly higher launch due to the new weights and the center of gravity moving back and down in the head, it also has the deepest face that Taylormade has ever created. If anyone has a head please measure the face in millimeters for everyone’s reference.
Taylormade provides two 1 gram weights and one 16 gram weight and claims a maximum of 75 yards of right to left or vice versa adjust-ability. It also features the previous R9’s adjustable options like face angle open or closed which changes the effective loft as well.
The Taylormade R9 Super Tri will be available in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, and 11.5 lofts with a stock Fujikura Motore 60 gram shaft or you have the option of selecting from 10 other upgrade shafts such as the Fubuki, Ozik, or Voodoo line by Aldila.
So what do you guys seriously think about TM’s latest release? Sound off in the comments area and vote in the poll! Is it more of the same? I hear that the adjustment sleeve has been updated but that provides no substantial gain for the player’s shot, perhaps they made a new sleeve to save even further on weight. I unlike many people welcome almost all new releases by Taylormade because they push the envelope and keep their competitors on their toe’s. So what if its virtually the same as the R9 except with a deeper face, my only gripe about it is of everyone I know who has an R9 very few actually adjust the club after the first several rounds.

The Japanese reviewers such as anserfreak who have seen these Prototypes have said the head shape actually resembles the R9 Max Type E, which was the larger higher launch version of the R9/R9 Max.
It’s so pretty, so charming! I couldn’t resist the temptation… I just bought it today (9.5 Fujikura Motore 60 S-Flex).
R9 SuperTri is a 460cc version of R9 (420cc) with MWT (Movable Weight Technology)
R9 Max / R9 460 (460cc) is different version, without MWT.
Is there a difference in the titanium used in the JDM model vs the US model?
its one of the bes drivers i have ever hit…had to buy one. TP supertri with 75 gram sharft S-flex.what a combo.
Your MessageI just bought a 2010 Super-Tri Driver. Although the fairways are wet with no roll he3re in Pittswburgh i;m flying the ball to where I hit it in mid summer last year.I played yeasterday and hit my tee shot 265 yards in the air.an increase of 20 yaqrds. Considering that at this time of the year the ball doesn;t fly or roll as far I consider that a significant improvement. Can;t wait till the season gets into full swing Last year I used 2008 Tour Burner 9 and one-half degree with great success. Had I known about the 2010 TP Model at 599.00 Iwould have bought one. .
hi got the new R9 Supertri today only bought a head no shaft was intending to use the one out of my old R9 Stiff .
Will the slieve fit and if so will the extract 5grams in the shaft make much of a difference i’m a 9 handicap wit a 117mph swing speed on average.
Needed a new driver so went to my club and hit 6 different drivers on the range. The R9 Supertri outperformed all the others by a good margin. I’m 62 and swing speed in low 80’s. Got the 10.5 degree with regular flex. Love it.
Where can I pick this up a friend of mind have one and that all he talks about.
Thanks for the info. Hope you don’t mind but I used your survey results in my research over on my website (with the link credit, of course).
Is the sameTorque Wrench ( 40 inch/pound) used on both the R9 460 and R9 Supertri.
Thanks

I Baught this monster 2 days ago and took it to the range today! What a Beast! Best money I ever spent. The shape of the head is so natural and appealing it just makes you feel confident! Excelent sound also. But the real beef lies in the power and distance you can genrate with this. To put it in perspective! With my old driver (Nicklaus Airmax) I use to avg about 240yards. With this baby (And the few lessons I had in the last month) Its quite easy for me to hit 280 if the wind is still.
I’ll defnitly promote it! :-)
