GolfToImpress recently featured some spy pics of the new 2010 products from Royal Collection Golf. For those who are not familiar with royal collection they are most famous for fairway woods in Japan and in the U.S their older Japanese models were re badged with the Sonartec Label. Sonartec went out of business a few years ago ( not owned by RC ) but Royal Collection has continued to grow releasing some very popular wedges, irons, and utility woods.
The Concept of Royal Collection also known as RC is their horse shoe shaped design on their fairway woods soles which makes control from any lie much easier, it also had the benefit of reducing drag against the turf. Players like Nike Price made the brand famous world wide. Since then Royal Collection has been redefining the fairway wood and utility market by tweaking their clubs to have optimal spin, face and body thickness as well as the overall shape and profile of the club.
The new model Royal Collection SFD III Driver is made of 6-4 titanium in the body with a super rolled Ti precision cast face. The sole is a mirror finish while the face features a satin finish. It’s for the most part “prosumer” model for the player who wants a pear shape traditional appearance incorporated with newer technology.
Everything from its black metallic paint, to its RC iomic light grey grip screams quality. They claim the product is made in Japan but we are not so sure about that as many Japanese brands now days are using the word ” made ” instead of ” assembled “. My best guess is made in China or Taiwan and assembled in Japan like previous models were.
The design is supposed to produce a strong ballistic flight with the optimal amount of spin and everything from the face angle, to CG works in unison to produce a well balanced driver with no Gimmicks or frills. Available in 9.5 & 10.5* lofts with a HUGE variety of shaft options. The center of gravity is 34.3mm, centroid depth 36.5mm, height 32.9mm center of gravity If your interested in pre ordering this new driver please contact a TSG representative.
Are they coming out with any new fairway woods? I really like the looks of the BBD’S 304F three wood, and I’ve always heard good things about RC.
What about face technology? They don’t seem to market anything resembling what Yamaha and Tourstage are doing.
This driver is one of the most visually pleasing clubs around, moreso than the R9
Keen there is also a new SFD FW and UT coming out along with this driver.
The SFD line is actually aimed at the mid capper to average golfer and features a bigger head compared to the BBD’s line and Pro TP lineups.
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
