The Legacy Driver Tour Model by Callaway Golf is set to be released early October as a Japan Only product. This model is part of Callaway Japan’s flashship LEGACY series similar to the original model released in 2008 except this one is geared to the Pro or Better Golfer.
This Legacy Tour Driver is 440cc’s with a compact and pear head shape design. It also features a traditional hosel type unlike many of Callaway’s recent U.S offerings, they went with the traditional hosel for 3 reasons, the first is the player can sense more kickback during and after the swing, the second is this allows the golfer to have more control to fade or draw when working the shot and lastly a stronger trajectory.
The design philosiphy is based off of Control, Distance, & most importantly Feel. Callaway Japan has found that these are the top 3 attributes for the better golfer. Callaway is using its Hyperbolic face design which is chemical milled of Alpha + Beta treated Titanium, it’s overall MOI and center of gravity location promotes medium penetrating ball flight.
Available with a a variety of new shafts like the AMORPHOUS by Mitsubishi, Mamiya ATTAS, MOTORE VC6.0, and The DIAMANA ‘ILIMA Callaway is way ahead of the curve as far as its custom offerings. The previous legacy driver geared toward the average player had an amazing stock shaft and by the looks of the Tour versions stock shafts specs and profile this one is highly suggested. Available in 8.5, 9.5, and 10.5* lofts.
The Callaway Legacy Hybrid was designed for the average to better golfer, this is not exactly on the same low handicap level as the Tour Driver mentioned above. This new utility has the ability to match up with the Legacy Forged Irons very well for a flow between hybrid & longer irons.
In addition to a shallow face design there is a steeper drop off while it tapers off to an also shallow rear end, from side view the face looks much deeper than its back. The reason why they did this was to achive a higher launch angle by putting optimal thickness and weighting in areas needed most.
The use the term straight offset and the reason why they made it this was is because often the average golfer pulls some of their hybrid shots, this is a combonation of user friendly design + player friendly specifications. A special drag resistant triple cut sole design is subtle but supposed to prevent the ball from getting stuck in longer grass. It cuts away more and more near the far back end especially on the heel side.
Available in a standard Legacy 60h & 50h shaft in SR and R you will also have the option of an ultra light 40h model for the ladies and a GS95 steel shaft for men who want heavier, lower, and a tighter despersion.
