KYOEI GOLF 1964MB – Using the Heritage K1 MOLD – JAPAN’s FIRST ORIGINAL BLADE
Muscle Back Purists have long insisted on absolute adherence to traditional specifications combined with current conforming requirements. Today most blade designs have modern lofts and attributes in the chase for more distance in the name of marketing superiority. Enter the new 1964MB by KYOEI GOLF 100% made in Japan forged, ground and finished at the KYOEI FACTORY.
Some believe commercialization tainted the purity of the muscle back’s original DNA. Classical era blades can still be found on the second-hand market, yet these beautiful muscle-back irons are no longer conforming to the R&A and USGA new groove regulations.
The 1964MB is the first release in KYOEI’s new Heritage series where the brand will pay homage to the game by using classic and original molds from the factory’s historical past.
Working with the K-1 Mold is no easy task, the head starts off much heavier than much of the other molds at the KYOEI factory, which means there is a lot more grinding and shaping that needs to take place. Also, adjustments to the forging press needed to be made to press heads as many of the Heritage Series mold’s are from a different era.
The new 1964MB by KYOEI Golf also has a historical significance on global Tours as the K-1 mold was used to manufacture many top players irons including those on the U.S PGA Tour during one of the most historic era in the game. The Spalding blacktop in 1995 as one of many examples.
The New 1964MB is available only in 3-PW configurations. Sold head only or shafted custom for you in Japan. There are two finishes a beautiful brushed satin chrome plating along with a raw grain ( arakenma ) kurzome black dye finish.
