So we know what Steve Stricker used to take home the top prize at Colonial, now we have to look forward to this weeks tournament in Dublin, Ohio, the Memorial Tournament. While he’s yet to tee off, and is looking to do so at 12:54 Eastern Time, our eyes will be on Kenny Perry to play well and possibly make a splash this week. What’s got us even more curious, after rumors snuck up about his switching drivers last week, is what other changes have gone on inside his bag.
What’s in Kenny’s Bag?
So for this weeks “What’s in the Bag” not only have we taken a peek inside Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker’s heavy pro bags, we’re going to be taking a little look into what Kenny Perry is going to be trusting as he tackles the always challenging course at the Memorial. The question is, will he play with his trusty TaylorMade rescue club, or will he go back to the 5-wood he won it with last year? Here is his bag, largely TaylorMade:
DRIVER: TaylorMade R9 460 (9.5°) with Matrix Ozik F7M2 X shaft
FAIRWAY WOODS: TaylorMade Burner (14.5°, 17.5°) with Fujikura ReAx TP 75 shaft
IRONS: TaylorMade r7 (4-PW) with FST KB Tour shafts
WEDGES: TaylorMade RAC (56°, 64°), Ping CG 14(60°) with True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts
PUTTER: Ping G21 Craz-E
BALL: Titleist Pro V1x
I suppose we’ll see in about an hour or two just how these clubs will translate into actual play for Mr. Perry. He’s got some stiff competition this week as Tiger is officially back in the saddle. The only thing this tournament is lacking, in our humblest of opinions, is another Tiger/Phil matchup.
Tune In, Watch Perry Play
Tune in, it’s about to get good!
