Looks like the sticks that Steve Stricker used to take home the top spot last Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial proved to be quite the asset, and if he’s using them again this week at the Memorial, he’ll be hoping that they treat him just as kindly. After all, if it worked once, it should work again, right?
What Did Stricker Play?
That said, you’ve gotta wonder just what Stricker used to get it done at Colonial, now don’t you? I know that here at GolfToImpress, we’re always wondering exactly who’s playing what, and lucky enough for all of us, as I’ve mentioned before, that information is readily available. Looks like Stricker is a total Titleist man, from the driver to the ball, with the only exception being his putter, which happens to be an Odyssey. Here’s what he used:
DRIVER: Titleist 909 D3 (8.5°) with UST Proforce V2 86 shaft
FAIRWAY WOOD: Titleist 906 F2 (13°) with UST Proforce V2 96 shaft
HYBRID: Titleist 585H (17°) with Fujikura Hybrid Speeder 904 shaft
IRONS: Titleist 755 (3-PW) with Royal Precision Project X shafts
WEDGES: Titleist Vokey Design (54°, 60°) with True Temper Dynamic Gold Sensicore sharts
PUTTER: Odyssey White Hot #2
BALL: Titleist Pro V1
There you have it! Looks like Stricker favors fitting his clubs with custom shafts and it looks like doing that works for him quite well. I’ve yet to play or experiment with the White Hot #2 putter, but it’s turning up in a lot of Pro’s bags as of late, making me wonder if maybe the time is RIGHT now to get on board and at least take it for a test spin on my local putting green.
Congratulations Steve
Congrats Steve Stricker, well played.
