Titleist Vokey Forged Wedge 2017 – There are many of you waiting for the news, March 17th Titleist will release the new 2017 model forged vokey wedges. These are not your normal wedge and it’s obvious Titleist is really stepping things up. Bob Vokey designed these and upgraded the technology within the head to meet the needs of tour players in Japan. There are three center of gravity designs that depend on the loft you choose. The major difference is the CG locations vary between models. Low CG is offered in 48* thru 52* / Mid CG from 54* thru 56* and High CG 56* to 60*.
Usually you see solid 1 piece designed wedges but Titleist is going all out on with a progressive CG design using multi materials while the club looks solid with a blade like back face. The body is soft forged while the face is titanium. There is also nickel and tungsten used for the weighting. Titleist Japan is using the TX4 groove with parallel milling in between each groove. They have also killed the leading edge to help the steeper swinger although these work perfect for sliders as well. The method of manufacturing is called Forged (Co-Forged) and I am not sure what this means yet but will find out.
Available in Satin or Black PVD with lofts 48/50/52/54/56/58/60 with DG S200, NS950, Modus 120, Zelos8 and a new carbon Diamana VF shaft. Like the new 718 T-MB these wedge have increased in price as well retailing just under 300 bucks each with steel shafts.
