PRGR 2016 Titan Face Irons – This week we highlighted many of PRGR’s new club releases in the RS series. Everyone loved the RS Forged irons we posted on Monday but it is highly likely we will end up selling more of this Titan face model. The general golfing public is looking for 2 basic qualities, Distance and Forgiveness while the more vocal and maniac golfers found on the internets blogs, forums, and social media tend to desire a more purist and compact club. This creates a conundrum for golf brands: Be the cool and support the keyboard warrior or go after the segment that caters to the larger pie, the recreational player.
Today we take a dive into what would help most mid to high handicappers scores the most, a semi-game improvement iron thats easy to launch long with ease. Follow the Jump for more comments and pictures…
So what is it? First off it’s part of the RS series so it’s not exactly game improvement. The RS series is Pro Gears athlete line up and this is the most forgiving model within it. It’s a slightly oversized head that is made using a soft stainless steel ST-22 body and a very thin titanium (LD433P) face this creates two things, a lighter head allowing for a larger size and a hotter more forgiving face to provide you distance and forgiveness.
In the above face shot you can actually see the outline of the titanium face material. In the below photo notice that it’s top line isn’t all that thick, and the offset while noticeable is not as much as most game improvement clubs.
This thinner topline and somewhat minimal offset combined with a more narrow sole make it part of the RS series, if you wanted even more forgiving and did not mind a larger footprint you would then consider the new PRGR Red Series which we will be showing off in coming weeks.
I would suggest these for the mid to high handicapper who doesn’t want that much of an oversized club head. In the pic above you see it’s leading and trailing edge grind as well as the tungsten alloy PRGR incorporates into the stainless steel sole. This drops the CG making it even easier to hit.
Finally there is PRGR’s FLASH ONE inner cavity, can’t see it from the photos but just behind the face there is small channel which further improves directional stability and reduces side spin.
This new PRGR titan face iron is now shipping, it was just released a couple of days ago in Japan and is now shipping. Available 6-PW as a base set with optional #5/AW/SW.
