Yesterday we showed you the RS Forged Irons now today the RS-F Driver. There are two drivers in the RS series the RS and RS-F, the “F” is the better player model. Both are 460cc’s with the same materials and base technology. Where the differences are is the “F” has a 56* lie angle which will make many people happy it also has a 3.5* open face angle, Ok before you run for the door the good news is PRGR measures their face angles different than other brands do. It looks super square to slightly open and PRGR fans know not to be afraid of this. Follow the Jump for more…
Up top we have a cool view of the face shape and depth, very unique and good for high or low misses on the face. Down low a photo at address showing a slightly open face angle, not -3.5 looking at all. What is surprising is when I hit this RS-F it’s straight for me and my bad shot is a slice. This tells me the standard shaft does a great job at squaring up quickly.
When you compare the RS vs RS-F, the “F” has the weight port near the toe while the RS has it toward the heel, this means the RS-F can play neutral to a strong fade bias where the RS neutral to a strong draw bias. The hosel is also adjustable with PRGR’s Bacosy which allows you to increase or decrease loft.
If you want a draw you put the 8g in the back and the 3g up front, for a fade it’s the opposite bump the loft up and down to fine tune the trajectory on your draw or fade.
The face is a forged Ti-6Al-4V the body is VPC Ti8Al-1V-1Mo. These materials are customized for PRGR. 4 patents in this club alone, the crown structure, 2 axis variable loft, Nabla face design, and the removable weight/cg variable concept. 4 patents guys in this single product.
In Japan people are noticing performance gains as we all expect from any PRGR product. They have a long history of making clubs that perform beyond the norm.
Standard length is 45.25″ and depending what flex you go it can be D1.5 – D2 – D2.5 – D3. This driver retails at around $800 usd. and can be purchased now in the TSG Pro Shop – (click here) Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the pics.
