As you can tell from some of our more recent blog posts at TourSpecGolf the Baldo demo’s arrived all at once, so we are doing our best to shoot the pics, hit them, and report back to TSG’ers. Have a look at the new 8C Craft Forged Irons.
The 8C Craft Series features the TA001 driver, Brassy, 8C Craft Forged Iron ( seen here ) and the 8C Craft Wedge which we will post about in the coming week or two. If your a little confused as to what type of player would play the 8C series, so am I. The driver leans on the players side with it’s square face, slightly higher CG distance and depth and overall shape, the Brassy is definitely for the stout player yet these irons while they look related are packed with gobs of forgiveness as are the wedges that have a good amount of offset. So I guess we can say the woods are related but the irons and wedges are brothers from another mother.
I’ve hit them a little but I like them a lot! The feel is a soft vibration dense sensation, the entire club face can keep the ball on track pretty good heel and toe side, all edges are rounded leading me to think this is for the better player as it works very well with my steep swing. Ready for more pictures of the new Baldo 8C Craft? You know what to do…
Pic below shows a fairly thin top line with enough offset to make these very user friendly, size wise they remind me of the ONOFF Forged from heel to toe, it’s satin finish is very low sheen so it keeps the sun off pretty well.
The sole is on the thick side for sure which I like gives this club lots of forgiveness, killed leading edge and I notice baldo makes many designs with this or a extra rounded leading edge for steeper swingers so count me in that camp but for the sweeper I’ve heard no complaints as of yet.
Fit and finish is decent too, the carbon medallion could be a concern but I’m assured it should not be as Baldo has gone through a lot of testing in various conditions to ensure it doesn’t fall off especially in extreme weather conditions which trust me Japan has a lot of.
All around just another smooth design from Baldo, I like it especially in two areas feel and forgiveness. If your a mid capper looking for soft and easy to hit without it being oversized it’s definitely an option especially if your not a fan of 2 piece iron heads with undercut designs.
