Callaway Japan has announced the release of their new Legacy Black series for 2011. Slated for September, the Legacy Black line will include a Legacy Black Driver, Legacy Black Fairway Wood, Legacy Black Utility and Legacy Black Forged irons. Aimed at the better player.
Calllaway Japan’s new Legacy Black driver features a premium forged Hyperbolic ELF Titanium cup face with Hyperbolic Crown and all Ti body. The head sis 440cc and more traditionally pear shaped. the Black PVD finished head features 24g of internal weighting that help square the ball for maximum smash factor at impact. Available in 8.5 9.5 and 10.5* lofts the Legacy Black driver will feature SR and S flexes in their stock Speed Metallix shaft as well as Tour AD DJ series and new Tour AD I-65C Series upgrade shafts.
The new Callaway Japan Legacy Black Fairway Wood will feature mid to compact head sizes with a traditional pear shape. A huge sweet spot on its high strength steel face and longer hosel create fast ball speeds and a strong trajectory. It will be available in 13 15 18 21 and 24* lofts.
Callaway Japan’s Legacy Black Utility uses an iron like profile and a no roll face to imitate the flat face of an iron. A huge sweet spot and low center of gravity allow it to hit those high big carry shots from any lie in place of your long irons. Available lofts will be 18 21 24 27* with steel shafts and heavy graphite options.
Finally Callaway Japan’s Black Legacy Forged iron continues the tradition of premium soft feeling irons providing distance plus ease of use and control. A straight leading edge and taller toe appeal to the better player while notch weighting in the toe and heel plus an undercut cavity provide higher MOI and forgiveness. The Legacy Black Forged uses the VAR medallion to help reduce vibrations at impact. Premium S20C forged, the Black Legacy has weaker lofts compared to previous generation Legacy Forged irons (26* 5 iron vs 24* 5 iron) for more of a focus on spin control and attacking the greens. DG S200 M10DB and GS95 are standard steel shafts along with Tour AD 85 as the graphite option.
Tourspecgolf.com will begin taking pre orders next month so look out for the listings in the pro shop!
Wow these clubs look hot! can’t wait to test drive the driver… sorry that was lame LOL
I’m more of a fan of the tradition size heads in drivers so I like this new look Callaway. The black is a nice looking colour as well.
Does someone know what is the price and availability of the Callaway Legacy Black Driver and irons? Thanx for the help.
Hi,
I tried the 2011 legacy driver in 10,5 and sr speed metallix shaft. I was very surprise by the accuracy of this driver (i play the titleist 907 with ust proforce v2 regular 75g) . I like the scare face very much too.
Do you know what kind of standard graphite deign shaft have the nearest performance with the callaway /gd speed metallix ?
Thank’s
