Titleist Japan has catered well to the Japanese market by c0nsistently producing Japan Market clubs to satisfy all levels of golfers. Last year they introduced their Endo produced VG3 driver and irons for the average and improving golfer looking to play more “advanced” level gear to bring their games to the next level. Titleist has expanded their VG3 line with the VG3C driver, a compact 440cc straight to open faced VG3 and VG3 fairway woods.
However the big release at the show for me was the next generation Vokey TVD-R C-C wedges. As readers here know the original TVD was a full retail release here in Japan and with all lofts readily available all the time, they were very popular with overseas golfers who could not get TVD wedges which were released on a much more limited one wedge loft at a time schedule in the US. The grind appears even more aggressive than the previous model and the graphics have slightly changed with BV taking the center of the cavity and Vokey TVD moving towards the edge. The great thing is that 8 lofts will be available at launch 48 50 52 54 56 58 60 and 62* making for far more versatile wedge combinations. I’ve long wanted to carry a 50 and 56* TVD combo and now I can.
I wasn’t happy with the VG3 photo taking as the Titleist booth had very difficult lighting especially with the VG3 woods having a mirror finish. I will try and retake tomorrow but in the mean time…
