Hot news from Quadra Composite Techno! They are releasing all new white Fire Express Prototype shafts that produced a strong penetrating trajectory for the fast swinger and quick tempo. This shaft is made for stability and to take the left side (hook/pulls) out of play. The torque is lower than the standard Fire Express but the shaft still gives great feedback and feel thanks to the 80t high grade carbon.
The original Fire Express is still one of the best performing low spin shafts in Japan and easily one of our best sellers. This new Prototype will appeal to the even faster and harder hitter. Like the original FE, they will be available in 65 and 75 models.
Also being released are white Fire Express Prototype iron shafts! I’ve asked Quadra to confirm the materials of the shaft but I’m guessing 50t carbon which like Crazy would make them the highest grade graphite iron shafts in the golf world today. The iron shafts will be available in 118g stiff flex and 120g x flex shafts. Steel like accuracy but graphite like feel and kick with consistent and predictable timing and impact. Update: I spoke to Quadra Composite Techno yesterday to ask them what kind of differences were there with the prototype and the standard model besides the torque numbers and rigidity distribution. Technology wise, the new prototypes feature an additional wrap of 70t carbon on top of the full length 80t carbon to reinforce the butt area. This stiffens up the butt over the standard model and provides a lot more stability especially for those with aggressive transitions and lots of wrist lag. The Prototype is made to provide similar big distance as the standard shaft but with more control for the hard hitter.
Those shafts are awesome and if you hit the Foo King Long golf balls the ball will go even further!
the quadra shafts are top notch! So, these protos will have tighter dispersion for the harder hitter?
Ywow they look stiff at 350 cpm in a 7 iron (see chart on the web). How do these compare to the 100i model?
Yes exactly, the design of the prototypes and their lower torque will provide even more stability and lower spin.

The Fire Express iron shaft will use a tighter higher quality carbon weave than the Pro Model 100i. As for the CPM, I’ve been trying to think of a theory for how high grade carbon CPM’s. As you’ve seen with the Crazy shafts, CPM comes out a lot higher than normal yet the shafts are very playable with good feel and great performance. I think higher grades like 50t and 80t naturally cpm higher due to the consistent and quick rebound of the metal/glass particles in the shaft. This causes cpm to come out higher but translates into a very playable shaft in real world performance. Also keep in mind Quadra’s cpm specs are reference only and just approximates. I found my Fire Express came in below what they noted for CPM by about 5 or so CPM which probably translates into around 10+ cpm for the irons which will also be affected by the head weight.
When can we expect them in the Pro Shop?
I’m also guessing these are limited as well hence prototype. Is that the case?
these prototype iron shafts could be good for my post recovery golf. i am worried though about the cpm being to stiff but gocchin mentioned real world playing conditions vs paper specs. i cpmd my 502 w ns950s 7 iron and it was only 311.
this sounds good for the pro or scratch golfer. But, i’ll stick to the normal quadra because i don’t have the swing speed or transition for this shaft.
I’m very curious to try these Quadra and Crazy shafts that have been raved about recently… must find a deal soon LOL.
