Still enjoying my Sony Nex-5 especially using 3rd party lens and manual focus. The Nex has opened the doors for many when it comes to reviving old lenses that still take beautiful photos. I noted this in a post a few weeks ago featuring some major camera eye candy and many 3rd party lenses on the Nex-5 here.
I’m becoming faster and faster at focusing manually but I am glad to hear that there is a new firmware coming out for the Nex so that it can focus Sony Alpha lenses from the DSLR line. Leica makes many beautiful lenses capable of capturing wonderful color and producing smooth and soft bokeh.
I’ve become a bit of an addict to shooting fast glass or in otherwords, lenses with an aperture of f2 or faster. Most of the shots you see below were taken at f2, wide open, with the Nex-5 and Summicron combo. I’m enjoying my two hobbies now, golf and photography. I just wish I had more time for them!

Hello, where did you buy your leica-Nex adapter? I would buy one but not sure about the quality of adapters you can find on ebay…
Thanks for your help.
Are you still using your NEX, or have your more recent cameras replaced it? Any thoughts after about a year since you got it and started experimenting with prime lenses?
Cheers, Ken
I don’t have the Nex-5 anymore but I still do love primes for their fast glass and their ability for making you think about composition. I credit the Nex-5 for making me see things differently and if I get the Nex-7 I’ll certainly go with primes again.
as a blogger was trying to look at a camera..I am in love with Nex 5..haven’t bought it yet…just found out about it yesterday at the camera store…thanks for showing love for it on this site trying to see what is a good starter camera without my android phone..lol
