TourStage 705 Iron Type M & Type S Irons
The New TourStage 705 Irons are the replacement iron to the previous 703 model. The 705 Type M is designed for the better player seeking a thinner top line and more workable ball flight while the 705 Type S fits the golfer who needs more distance and forgiveness.
Below I have images of both the Type M & Type S side by side notice the top line width is 0.5mm thinner on the Type M and the overall shape and size compared to the S is more compact and blade like.
Now let’s compare the TourStage 703 to the 705. The TourStage term is Hype Grinding Sole.. a little overboard in my opinion as it’s basically a killed leading edge and rounded trailing edge grind. This has been a trend lately that reduces digging and decreases drag in rough or bunkers. Its definitely an improvement over the 703. Check it out below:
More on the differences between the 705 Type M vs the Type S. They are both Forged of mild steel but the 705 Type S features a face made of (# 3,4) SAE8655 and (# 5 – PW) soft iron. What this does is forgiveness, maximum distance, and better spin numbers for the average player. The drawback is that feel isn’t as pure as a one piece non cavity forging.
Expect both irons in the TourSpecGolf ProShop by late october for shipping on November 5th. We highly suggest jumping on the pre order if you desire to get yours as part of the fist batch. Custom shaft options will become available shortly after release, specifications are below…
The 705 looks like it might work fo ra Mid-Capper. Interesting to know if the Pocket Cavity has that “click” when hit.
Hey i was thinking buy a new set of tourstage, however im thinking between the x-blade 703 or the x-blade 705s. Can you recommend ? and which one have a better feel and forgiveness ?
