Some Wedge companies swear by face milling while others don’t give it the time of day. There is no shortage of opinions on the web when it comes to the effects of wedges with milled faces. Some say it allows for maximum allowable draft angles which in turn produces more consistent shots. Other companies claim the surface roughness maximizes spin.
The truth is most professional players across all tours have traditional non milled faces choosing not to adopt milled faces. I wanted to find out what you guy’s have experienced and think of this in an anonymous poll.

Yes, I definitely get more spin from the milled faces. The Vokeys I use on softer balls always leave a nice scuff mark, similar to if you hit your ball on a cart road or something like that.
I can’t really tell between my milled and non-milled wedges. But then again nowdays my swing speed is not fast enough to make a difference.
The milling looks great! But the look is all its there for…IMHO.
i’m not sure how you can draw any reasonable conclusions from sucha poll simply because in order for it to be meaningful you gotta have folks comparing exact same wedge makes/models one milled and one not, not to mention that they have to be exceptionally consistent ball strikers almost like a machine to highlight the difference. and there should be some minor spin rate difference. also Vokey spin milled wedges have pretty much the same thing on them only more fine grained and those are used on tours i think http://www.titleist.com/golfclubs/wedges/vokeyspinmilled.asp
personally i dont believe it makes enough difference to worry about it, if its there good, if not there are more important things to consider in a wedge but thats just me.
Your Message@Anton:
Anton, It’s a poll to gauge peoples opinion not come to any conclusions…
@TourSpecGolfer:
LOL Exactly.
Sorry, I didn’t realize this was a marketing kinda poll ;)@TourSpecGolfer:
I feel a definite advantage in my milled clevelands. It has much better feel and hold on the greens compared to nonmilled versions. I seen a small but somewhat significant improvement in my short game.
Never played with milled face wedges, but from its appearance it looks like it would grip the ball more and therefore creating more spin. that’s just my take on this.
I recently switched from a 4 year old Spin Milled Vokey sand/lob pair to an equivalent set of Eidolon wedges. The new wedges have essentially the same milling marks as the Vokeys. For my money, the fresh face and grooves make a tremendous difference. Not sure if it is the grooves, or the milling that puts the spin on the ball. YMMV. I do know that the feel of the Eidolon’s is nicer than the Vokeys.
i wouldnt call it an advantage but in my opinion it dosent make a noticable difference but in theory it should make some difference even if not noticable.
