It’s Itobori week here at TSG as we work hard at promoting the extraordinary work of Mayuki Takai. This Itobori wedge features a copper finish combined with a custom smooth polished and orange translucent paint fill. Follow the Jump for more photos…
The topline photo above shows a razor thin topline with a nice neck transition, the 56* has slight onset which is what many better players will appreciate, onset is the different than off offset where the leading edge passed the hosel line.
The below image shows the custom option called smooth polished sole which is something TSG collaborated with MTG to produce for customers who wanted the most fluid surface for turf impact. The standard sole grind has the Itobori style grind over that smooth polished area.
Another view of it up close below.
What I like most about this Itobori grind and the grain also known as a hairline finish on the back face is that a copper finish looks best when this is done to a wedge, it’s the best surface for copper to adhere to and seems to wear at a much slower pace as well.
This hairline grain style finish also enhances feel making the impact softer than a smooth surface. If you read reviews on Itobori wedges just about everyone praises the soft impact they produce.
TourSpecGolf offers any Itobori wedge fully custom so you can choose one like this one here or request custom bounce, loft, head weight, finish, stamping and other features. Get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have a desire to learn more.
