The Itobori Arakenma S15C Forged Wedge fully handcrafted by Mayuki Takai’s hands and in this blog post, the featured wedge in the photos is finished in Black Boron. TSG customers are now able to purchase fully custom grind/loft/bounce/spec’d Itobori Irons & Wedges. Follow the Jump for more photos and a brief run down on these beauties.
If you look closely from all angles, this wedge has a light raw grain grind to it. Another one of TSG’s close brand partners Yururi Golf is known for their thick natural grain while this Arakenma wedge has a more subtle grain depth than the Yururi raw gekku but what is similar are two things, these wedges while conforming produce a ton of spin and the second this is they feel incredibly soft at impact.
Two factors make these feel so soft. The first is it’s Japan Forged S15C material; this is pretty much the most malleable forged carbon available in the golf industry today. The second factor is that shallow raw grain finish applied over the entire head.
Not only does this light raw grain enhance feel but it also significantly reduces glare no matter the finish, there is no mirror like effect noticeable even in direct sunlight.
In the photo above you can see this wedge features a beautiful neck transition, zero offset, and the perfect tear drop shape.
The trailing edge grind on the 56* is what I would consider optimal so that the wedge excels on the full swing approach shots or can be lightly opened to add some extra needed loft and spin.
Custom grinds, finishes, stamping, and builds are available. If you need low or high bounce it’s no problem at all, odd lofts like 51.5 or 57.0 that isn’t an issue, heavier heads? No problemo. It’s fully custom and modified by a master of wedge and iron grinding Mayuki Takai.
We will be listing the Arakenma Wedge in the TSG Pro Shop with full custom options, but if you need to get your hands on one early, please inquire with [email protected]
The Arakenma Wedge costs $250 per head which is steep but worth it considering Mayuki Takai himself is grinding it with a ton of custom options at your finger tips.
