Areso Golf Designs by Rock Wu – You may have heard of Areso Putters they popped up a few years back with designs that look to be from the future. Seriously some of the putters look like they should be in a transformers movie that is so beyond the traditionalist designs most brands adhere to today. The man behind the name is Rock Wu; he is a genius in bio mechanics and club design. He has done so much work behind the scenes for big brands I’m afraid to talk about it due to the legality of it. Let me just say anything that comes from his table if your eye agrees with it or not it’s got a technical purpose that is well researched and validated. Rock Wu has co-developed materials with companies and has been an integral part of developments that have PGA Tour victories. At another time with his permission, I may be able to delve deeper into his success.
We have a beautiful putter here it’s the C90 by Areso Golf, and we sent it to Gold’s Factory for a refinish and tungsten weights installed. Follow the Jump and we will go over what makes this putter special.
All Areso putters are 100% CNC milled using a 4-Axis machine. You can only purchase Areso putters thru one of their authorized dealers that provide a fitting. TourSpecGolf has been given permission to offer a few pieces to our customers bypassing the fitting and providing them to our elite customers online.
The excellent mill marks on these putters are a testament to their design and manufacturing. The Japanese finish helps bring these details out to highlight the flawless curved corners and edges. In the picture above I like like the milling on the wide, thick bumpers showing off their manufacturing capabilities.
Originally this putter had a black finish; we sent it to golds factory for the usual tune which included a refinish in NiCr Satin, tungsten weights installed on the sole bringing the head weight up to 400g! Yes, you heard that right this head is hefty, we suggest counter weighting it with about 50g in the grip or if you are a heavy head fanatic leaving it as is.
The picture above shows what I think is the most attractive L style mallet putter ever made. I can’t think of a shape that is as masculine yet balanced as this C90.
The emblem on the toe is unusual allowing the blue/black to accent the Japan satin finish. The wave milling is designed to soften feel yet keep distance control in check.
This photo above shows and angle that shows off what I call an “outsert” I call it that because it’s the opposite of an insert if you look carefully around the edges of the face it extends out. It’s details like this that are unique to Rock.
We had GF shaft it up with a Teramoto black shaft for extra bling and install a white elite mid-sized grip. This putter will be in the TSG pro shop. This is not a product that will be easy to get, TSG is making a very short and exclusive run of Areso heavy headed putters.
